In the morning I announced on Twitter that I got an amazing idea for today’s nail art. But that idea grew bigger throughout the day. I proudly represent “The Ride” – inspired by my ultimate favorite band’s video THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS‘ Kings and Queens. There are screen captures from the video so you can compare ;-) Please, Echelon (fans of 30 Seconds To Mars, for those who aren’t familiar with the term) and everyone else as well let me know what you think in your comments.

On my thumb I painted the famous scene from the video which is really easy to make and can be done for all nails equally if you prefer it that way. At first I applied base colour – S-he, 378. Allow to dry before proceeding to step 2 – applying orange crescent on the tip of the nail. Unfortunately I can’t tell you which nail polish I used because the label is long gone :-( It’s sparkling orange. Almost gold maybe.

Simply draw some crazy lines to put up a road and after that draw some dots for the cyclists.

In the video there are many memorable slow-mo scenes like the running horse, burning LA hills and cycling tricks to count just a few. I chose the famous Banksy scene. I have to say I appreciate his street art and I recently saw his documentary – Exit Through The Gift Shop. I highly recommend it to those interested in such art and those who appreciate a bit of inspiration. I think it was great how 30 Seconds To Mars put Banksy’s work in their video. Awesomesauce! I used a pastel blue for base – Maybelline, mini colorama, 96 Party Blue. Banksy art with black Jessica’s Nail Art with a thin brush and different colours from Vollare, Nail artistic for the bouquet, also thin brush.

The next slow-mo scene I wanted to remake was the one with the clown blowing fire – Inglot, Nail Enamel, 38 – white. Jessica black with a thin brush again and like Banksy’s bouquet different colours for fire – orange, red and yellow.

In the end of “The Ride” all the cyclists come to Santa Monica Pier. I am very happy with how that turned out on my index finger’s nail :-D Dark blue as base – Inglot, Nail Enamel 955. After it’s dry draw a gray circle with a dot in the middle – Essence, Colour And Go, 35 Movie Star; use a thin brush!! In the step 2 draw yellow lines, for lights – Vollare, Nail Artistic.

Draw the pier and the buildings in front of the wheel with Jessica’s black, also add the cars on a wheel.

Throughout the Kings And Queens video we see Triads. The symbol Mars are using since their latest album was released – This Is War. I put it on with Jessica’s black after the base which was S-he, 204. A nude kind of colour. I wanted to make it look like a tattoo. Echelon are known to have tattoos inspired by 30 Seconds To Mars. Kings And Queens by 30 Seconds To Mars:

As much as I liked making nail art based on a music video I think I might be doing that more often in the future. Tell me what’s your favourite video and perhaps I’ll make the next nail art based on that ;-) Have a wonderful  day!
